Wildside column: Bass and walleye are both on the list

In my autumn fishing attempts almost every day, I want to check three boxes: a lot of sea bass, a large bass (or two), and an edible walleye.

Many bass provide many definitions of bite-"action", perhaps the main reason why anglers like this sport.

The big bass provides addictive excitement and makes the outing unforgettable.

Edible leukoplakia provides healthy delicacies comparable to the best food in restaurants.

Although the state considers black bass and walleye to be edible, it allows inland rivers to harvest 3 black bass that are at least 12 inches in length a day, but most of the anglers I and I appreciate their sporting qualities, and Realize that they rely on nature to reproduce, and think that they are more valuable alive than dead.

Natural reproduction is not so important for walleye fish. They are stocked as fish species in internal rivers. The state authorizes the restriction of five walleyes of any size per day. In the summer, when the meat of the skewers quickly deteriorated in warm water, I released all the leukoplakia. In the cooler waters of spring and autumn, I keep the leukoplakia between 14 and 20 inches, where the smaller ones are released to grow and the larger ones are released into trophies.

The cohabitation of perch and walleye in the same waters of Iowa’s inland rivers is one of the happy coincidences in life, as is the susceptibility of each species to the same bait.

Bass and bigeye like crayfish, especially in autumn, and it is easy to hit imitations of crank bait that I often carry but rarely use. Releasing the fish entangled in a pair of tweeter hooks will take too much time when the fish bites the hook, which is dangerous for both the fish and the angler.

As the water cools in autumn, I prefer to use soft plastic tungsten jigs that simulate small fish, grubs or worms. When a bass or leukoplakia ingests the fixture, the signal transmitted to the angler is the same-the "ticking" or "ticking" spreads instantly, just like electrical pulses, from the fixture to the angler's through the braided wire and graphite rod hand.

This is the most reliable bite of the fishing year. Unlike, for example, the top water bites in spring and summer, which usually cause as many errors as hits, autumn jig bites are almost foolproof. If you feel it, they will understand. Set the hook and wait for action.

Because perch and walleye live together, eat the same forage and hit the same bait, anglers rarely know what fish is at the end of the line until it appears.

The hook can tell you a lot about the size of the fish. A sturdy hook usually pulls a small fish out of the water, while a large fish hardly moves, stays deep and pulls the tip of the curved fishing rod toward the surface. However, the hook does not tell you any information about the species.

Although the hooked leukoplakia usually stays deep and shakes its head, the bass, which is faster than the pound, stronger, and more sporty, usually raises its hands with crazy runs, powerful surges, and amazing leaps that end in suspense.

In all my recent outings, I checked at least one box, and checked two a few times. With good luck and good weather, it was only a matter of time before I checked all three.
